Autism for Law Enforcement:  Recognition & Response

This four-hour course has been approved  by the Minnesota POST Board under the mandated category of autism. The Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association will submit your results to the Minnesota POST Board. Reports for online courses are sent at the beginning of each month.  Your time in this course, and all courses on MNLET, is being recorded by a system called SCORM.  Reports are available to administrators to monitor participation.

Cost:  Free for anyone who works for the sheriff’s office, $50 for all others (Non-sheriff staff, please contact Ann Jarrett ajarrett@mnsheriffs.org to register and receive access.)

This course is intended to increase awareness and knowledge about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and introduce first responders to practical tips and de-escalation strategies.  The goal is to produce safe, effective, and positive interactions between autistic people and first responders.
