Module Overview  This module discusses the need for law enforcement leaders to have the ability to make sound ethical decisions even when faced with potentially volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous situations (VUCA).  Making the wrong decisions under these circumstances can often spell disaster for a law enforcement agency and the community.  This module introduces students to counter VUCA decision making tactics and techniques. 

Module Objectives Upon successful completion of this module students should be able to:

  • Identify 3 Steps to Effective Decision Making.
  • Understand factors that affect Adaptive Decision Making.
  • Define VUCA

The Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association is a continuing education sponsor as approved by the Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training.
