The goal of this course is to give first responders an overall understanding of what trauma is and how it can impact their own mental health. Learners will be able to describe what trauma is and how it affects their brain. Learners will be able to identify signs to look for personally and professionally that they, or a colleague, are experiencing burnout, post-traumatic stress, compassion fatigue or critical incident stress.  Learners will discover pathways for health.

POST Credits:
The Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association is a continuing education sponsor as approved by the Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training. This course, CIT Module 18: Personal Wellness & Resiliency 09053-00657 has been approved by the POST Board for continuing education credit. Peace officers who successfully complete this course will receive one (1) hour of continuing education.
This course is approved for two (2) hours under the mandated category of Crisis Intervention and Mental Illness Crises.
